PlaygroundStudents in K-8 enjoy running and playing on the outdoor playground during their daily morning movement break and afternoon recess.

First Grade (Primary Classrooms)Primary grades K-2 are located on the first floor with two classrooms per grade. All classrooms feature ActivBoards, Document Cameras, iPads, and cubbies for students to store their backpacks and coats. Classrooms are bright with plenty of space so that students can gather for fun activities. Classrooms at Notre Dame function as interdependent communities that value the uniqueness of each child. The teacher serves as a facilitator of learning by modeling, demonstrating and coaching students through everyday lessons, which allow them to engage in the learning process and work at their optimal instructional level.

LibraryStudents in Preschool through grade 5 enjoy visiting the Library once a week to check out books, listen to a story, learn library skills but all students are encouraged to visit the library to discover the joy of reading or excitement of researching by having the opportunity to use the computers.

Preschool HallwayOur Preschool Program moved into the elementary building in Summer 2019 with a warm, welcoming hallway and fun and engaging classrooms.

Multipurpose Room New addition in Spring 2019, this space allows for additional indoor recess and movement breaks, fine arts concerts, 8th grade lunch, meeting and collaboration space.

Dining RoomLunches are prepared fresh daily by AVI Food Service and provide several options for every taste and can accommodate any dietary restrictions. Students can choose to purchase full lunches, just snacks or drinks, or bring a packed lunch from home to enjoy with their classmates in the dining room.

Preschool Classroom The Preschool classrooms offer 3-year-old and Pre-K Programs with half day and full day options. The spacious classrooms engage children with center based activities and fun enrichment opportunities.

Third (Intermediate) ClassroomsGrades 3-6 are located on the second floor with bright and spacious rooms. Students change classes for at least one subject beginning in primary grades. Grades 5 and 6 rotate classrooms for all core subjects throughout the day. Classrooms at Notre Dame function as interdependent communities that value the uniqueness of each child. The teacher serves as a facilitator of learning by modeling, demonstrating and coaching students through everyday lessons, which allow them to engage in the learning process and work at their optimal instructional level.

GymStudents Preschool – Grade 8 attend Physical Education class once a week. Students learn the fundamentals of a sport while understanding the importance of good sportsmanship. Uniforms for Physical Education are worn to school on the day of class. The gym is also space to several After School Clubs and CYO Athletic teams for grades 3-8 such as basketball, wrestling, and volleyball.

Computer LabGrades K-4 attend computer class weekly to learn keyboarding, basic computer applications and coding. Grades 5-8 have technology integrated into their daily instruction. Many lessons are taught in collaboration with classroom projects.

Middle School ClassroomsMiddle School students in grades 7-8 enjoy block scheduling, blended learning, and elective classes. Students are provided personal Lenovo Tablets with Office 365 for use at school beginning in grade 6. Classrooms at Notre Dame function as interdependent communities that value the uniqueness of each child. The teacher serves as a facilitator of learning by modeling, demonstrating and coaching students through everyday lessons, which allow them to engage in the learning process and work at their optimal instructional level.

Locker Rooms Grades 5-8Students in grades 5-8 receive their own locker. Students have access to their lockers as needed throughout the day.

Third (Intermediate) Grade ClassGrades 3-6 are located on the second floor with bright and spacious classrooms. Students change classes for at least one subject beginning in primary grades. Art RoomStudents preschool – grade 8 have Art class once per week to learn a variety of artistic skills, history and techniques from basic drawing and painting, to clay, wire sculptures and photography. Middle school students also have several electives options available to further explore different aspects of art.

Music Room Students in Preschool – grade 8 partake in Music class where each year they continue to build upon skills in creating, performing, and analyzing music. Students in the primary grades participate in the Christmas Program while students in the intermediate grades participate in the Spring Program. Students in Grades 5-8 are invited to join the NDES choir.

Band RoomStudents in grades 5-8 can join Band and choose from a variety of instruments to play. Concerts are performed in the fall, Christmas, and spring, along with opportunities for other competitions and field trips.

Science/Stem LabNDES is recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and with the Thomas Edison Award for STEM Education, NDES builds into its program a distinct focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills. The Science and STEM lab features state-of-the-art technology including 3-D printers, laser engraving, and tablets. Technology and STEM is integrated into regular classes with the support of the teachers.
