Notre Dame Proud, Notre Dame Strong – Our Transformation Continues

The school year may be starting to wind down, but the investment by Notre Dame Schools in your child’s future continues going strong as we look forward to next year.

Enrollment is up. We’re growing! We are adding a third preschool class next year as enrollment is up by 24 students, and we have enrolled 36 new students in grades K through eight. We have added additional elective classes to our middle school and have waiting lists for grades seven and eight.

Leadership is strong. Last week I shared that Mrs. DiSanto is joining us as Assistant Principal at NDES and NDMS. I look forward to working with her on behalf of your children. I anticipate little or no faculty turnover. That stability is great news for the continued growth and academic achievement of your children.

Forward momentum across the campus. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, NDCL and NDES parents and grandparents, and friends of the schools, as well as strong fundraising events like the Lions Mane Event and Golf Classic, significant investments are coming to Notre Dames Schools. On June 5, we will continue our renovations in the Middle School. The $300,000 investment includes new technology and furniture, in addition to painting, new carpeting and additional lockers on the second floor. Ground was broken recently on the Rieger Athletic Center, a 4,500-square-foot indoor training and practice facility. Also as soon as the school year ends, the renovation of the NDCL biology and chemistry labs and classrooms will begin, with completion expected at the start of the new school year.

Leadership Transition. As all of you know, NDCL principal Mr. Waler is retiring at the end of June. After 17 years of extraordinary leadership, Mr. Waler steps away having secured NDCL’s status as a National Blue Ribbon School and as a Top Workplace, confirming the school’s strength and vitality. Mr. Waler’s successor, Mrs. Jodie Ricci, starts July 1. Look for updates on how you can meet and get to know Mrs. Ricci, who is also Music Director at Church of the Holy Angels in Bainbridge.

In other transitions, the Notre Dame Schools Board of Directors will launch a search for a new President to succeed Dr. Michael Bates, who previously announced he is leaving June 30. The Board will seek input from staff, parents, donors, alumni and others as they go through the process.

There is so much to be excited about with Notre Dame Schools, all thanks to the incredible support of so many in our Notre Dame community. Thank you for all the ways you continue to support our ministry and work with your children.
