The preschool hosts an art appreciation program. The purpose of this program is to provide the children with art experiences that are outside of our weekly art activities, taught by an art specialist. In past years, the children have made pottery, painted on canvas and replicated famous artwork.
The Dinaschool program is provided to Notre Dame Preschool through Catholic Charities. In this program, Dina, a beloved dinosaur puppet, talks to the children about social and emotional issues such as being a good friend, being a good classroom citizen, and handling disagreements in a loving manner. Dina the dinosaur brings stories and music to life for 30 minutes each week.
The children are treated to stories related to what they are learning in class that week. Our wonderful librarian also conduct creative activities such as art and music to enhance their weekly visits.
As part of the Pre-K Language Arts program, children choose or write a poem of interest to them. The children practice reciting and reading the poem during the month of February. In March, the Pre-K class holds a Poetry Recital for family and friends. It is an event not to be missed!
Students will develop a love for music through songs, movement, instruments, and stories. They will engage in weekly fun activities centered around familiar themes that will get them moving and boost their language and literacy skills.
